Scrum-ptious fun: the best Scrum memes to lighten up your Sprint

Reading time: 3 minutes

In order to communicate effectively, it is sometimes necessary to adapt to your audience. Memes are always the go-to message for members of the Millennial and Gen Z generations. Do you want to see some of my favourite memes related to Scrum? Let us take a look in my ‘Scrum memes’ folder!

First up, the meme that pokes fun at low attendance in Agile sessions, with one dedicated soul always showing up. You know who you are. In every knowledge session, you join that Teams meeting without fail. You are truly appreciated. 🥰

Next, there’s a meme I send to the dev with too many open cards. It cleverly and sarcastically highlights a classic productivity tip.

Then, there’s Yoda, using his wisdom to caution against micromanagement, likening it to the dark side. This one’s great because micromanagement disrupts team autonomy and trust. Comparing it to the “dark side” uses a beloved Star Wars reference to stress an important Agile principle: fostering trust and empowerment.

Another favorite illustrates product managers’ tendency to favor new features over tackling technical debt. In Agile, balancing feature development with maintaining code quality is vital.

Rambo pops up in another meme, humorously depicting the stress and struggle of mid-sprint workloads. It highlights the Scrum Master’s role in checking in with the team during these overwhelming periods.

Bernie Sanders makes an appearance, humorously emphasizing the repetitive nature of reminding team members to update their Jira statuses. The familiar image coupled with this mundane request brings humor to an important task: keeping statuses current.

This meme captures the awkwardness of trying to leave an overlong meeting. In Scrum, the Daily Scrum should be a 15-minute time-boxed event, and extending it messes with the team’s schedule.

These two memes contrast the enthusiasm at the start of a sprint with the exhaustion at the end, resonating with anyone who’s felt the highs and lows of a sprint cycle.

This meme humorously likens the act of completing a sprint and having a great retrospective to Salt Bae’s stylish seasoning, making a seemingly mundane task seem more glamorous and fun.

Finally, there’s one about the risk of grabbing a coffee just before a scheduled meeting. This one hits close to home. This. Is. A. Thing. I haaaaate that.
